FED: Tax, republic take centre stage as parliament resumes

CANBERRA, Feb 7 AAP - Tax reform and the republic are expected to occupy centre stage when
federal parliament resumes tomorrow after the summer break.

The potential impact of a GST has been under scrutiny in Senate committees and is likely to
be a subject of heated debate in the House of Representatives' first question time of the
year.

But it will be the Senate, which resumes next week, which will determine the fate of the
GST.

The Howard government has five months to get the GST legislation …
