I am writing to clarify the article that appeared on Jan. 17 regarding the State Energy Office budget and utility demand- side management programs.
The governor's 1990-91 budget proposes $6 million for the State Energy Office for these programs and would establish the necessary appropriation authority for joint venture programs supported by voluntary contributions from investor- owned utilities.
This would give the Energy Office appropriation authority only if we are successful in entering into agreements with the utilities. Discussions between our office and the utilities are under way.
